May 4th and 5th
4/30/12
Hope to see a lot of our friends this weekend as we start our Spring/Summer season. We'll be playing at the IC Spring Festival on Friday night, May 4th from 8-11. Come out, play some games, eat some food, and drink a beer with us. More information here.
We're also playing a fundraiser for Children's Emergency Shelter at Rib Room on Saturday, May 5th. There will be a great lineup of other bands as well. Grant Pierson, Wanda Watson, Willie Stradlin, Wingnut, and Hillbilly Vegas. Get your reserved tables here. Make sure and let us know you're coming here. Can't wait so see you there!
Green Light
4/2/12
We're very excited to have Randy Burden and Bill Flaspohler as our newest members of the band. We're fortunate to have these two highly-talented guys on board as we prepare for our spring and summer shows. Our test-run at Wine & Roses this past Saturday night turned out to be a huge success. You know in "The Outlaw Josey Wales" where Clint Eastwood spits right between that dog's eyes? Yeah, that's what our last show was like. (I stole that line from Bill). Anyway, can't wait for everyone to hear our new sound. Check our Gigs section which will undergo a lot of updating in the next few weeks.
New Lead
1/26/12
We'd like to welcome our good friend, Randy Burden, to the Wingnut family. Randy will be playing lead and doing a little singing for us. We're excited to have him on board and we're looking forward to sharing the stage with him. He's very talented. So talented, he probably won't require an over-embelished (fake) bio like the rest of us. Working on that now.
We're booking some gigs for Spring and will begin posting them on the site soon.
Chapter 2
1/2/12
Got some good press this week Check it out here when you get a chance. A big thanks to Jim Martin for the kind words. This article actually makes us seem like fine, upstanding citizens.
We've played quite a few private parties over the past few months and we're really ready to get out and play a public show soon. As some of you know, we're going through some restucturing and a couple faces may look different next time you see us (and not because Tim is thinking of getting Botox). Stay tuned. We're looking forward to this next chapter and the opportunity to add to our group. We'll be playing at a beer-selling venue near you very soon.
We'd also like to wish Eric McGuyer a safe journey to Peru, which will be his home for the next year. Please don't repeat that statement to local law enforcement. It's kinda on the down low.
Fall
10/13/11
We've taken some time off to prepare for some upcoming private parties and to ensure we all get our property taxes paid. Both have been a succes so far. We'll be playing an acoustic gig at UAFS homecoming on Saturday, 10/15, for the KA's. We've also got a fun Halloween Party coming up, so we've been practicing in spandex. This has proven unsuccessful thus far, but we will keep working at it.
We'll be booking some other gigs soon and we'll keep you updated on show times.
Last, check out this site, FREE BEER*, when you get a chance. The owners of this site are poetic savants with an absurd knowledge of craft beer.
* you will not find free beer at this site, but you will find great information, reviews, and total enlightenment.
Mojo's IV
8/11/11
We're playing one of our last public gigs Saturday night 6/13 at Mojo's prior to starting the private party tour. This is the 4th time we've played at Mojo's this year. We've had some great crowds and expect to see a lot of you this weekend. Call (479) 434-5434 or (479) 301-5114 for table reservations. As always, Margaritaville will cost you $40.
3-sides
6/28/11
We've been working pretty hard on some new songs in the Wingnut Indoor Practice Facility (garage) lately. We've also been working on a new instrument we hope to debut soon. Without giving away too much information, this new instrument has three sides and can be played with a small metal stick. That's all I can say for now. Stay tuned.
We'll be playing at Mojo's again on July 16th. Previously, we've played acoustic sets there. We're gonna do it up right this time and go full-band. Hope to see a lot of you there.
We've got a new track "Soulshine" and a video "Wagon Wheel" on our Music tab. Check em out.
Baaack
5/17/11
After a short time off, we're ready to get back to playing some music. We just got through recording Soulshine at Second Street Live for a CD that will go on sale in the next few weeks. This CD features a few more local bands. Children's Emergency Shelter is putting this together and all sales will benefit CES. Thanks to Tom Ware for his help in this recording.
Our new indoor practice facility is finally finished. It looks like a truckload of diamond plate ran into an electronics store, which would be kinda cool to see...providing nobody got hurt.
We'll be at La Huerta on June 4th for a Special Olympics benefit. Grant Pierson and his kids will be opening for us, so it'll be a great night of music. Check out our Facebook event page here. Hope to see a lot of you there.
Gone Fishin'
4/26/11
We'll be taking a few weeks off in May and will be back June 4th at La Huerta for our annual Special Olympics benefit. Hopefully by then the bad weather will be long gone. Thanks to everyone that came out to hear us at Second Street Live this past Saturday. Also a big thank you to Pattie West who organized this event that raised over $13,000 for Children's Emergency Shelter.
We've added a new tab to our page (Music) with some live tracks from our Second Street Live show. We'll be adding more soon. Hope you like them.
Second Street Live
4/11/11
We'll be playing a fundraiser at Second Street Live on April 23rd that benefits the Children's Emergency Shelter. This fundraiser includes music and dancing by Wingnut (we sing, you dance), a silent auction, and heavy hors d'oeuvres provided by Outback, Beef O'Brady's, and Hooter's. Wine and beer will be available. All proceeds will go directly to the Children's Emergency Shelter, which is a non-profit agency that can house up to 24 area children ages 6-17 in an emergency situation. We would like to ask all of our friends to please help us raise money for this worthy cause at this awesome venue. Individual tickets are $20. Tables of 8 can be purchased for $500. You can get tickets by emailing us at wingnuttheband@hotmail.com or by contacting Pattie West by phone at 479-739-6833. Doors open at 6pm. We hope to see a lot of you there and thanks in advance for your support. We'll have some fun.
We also would like to thank everyone at the Cancer Support House and those that attended Wine and Roses this past Saturday night. We had a great time entertaining and helping to raise money for another great cause.
This...Not That
3/3/11
Thanks to everyone that came out to Mojo's Saturday night. We had a lot of fun and had a great crowd. In fact, it topped our last show at Mojo's as their largest crowd ever. We're in the process of setting up a few more dates there this summer. We'll keep you posted. You can follow us here...not here.
Bella Notte is this Saturday Night. If you haven't already purchased tickets, you can do so by emailing Meighan Pendergrass here...but not here.
Hope to see a lot of you soon!
Two Things
2/6/11
We've got another gig at Mojo's coming up at the end of this month on February 26th. Had a great turnout last month and they wanted us again before they get their pianos back. Mojo's has already said they will be staffed up with plenty of bartenders and wait staff. I think they were a little overwhelmed last time, but they know what to expect out of all of our friends now. Hope everybody can make it. We've got an event page here with more details.
In addition, we'll be playing at the fifth-annual fundraiser, Bella Notte, on March 5th, 2011 at 7pm at the Fort Smith Convention Center. The event is hosted by Young Emerging Leaders (YEL) and is an opportunity for YEL members and those in the community to raise funds for the YEL Scholarship Fund. This year's event will include dinner, a silent auction, and music. Tickets are $25 which includes entry and dinner. To purchase tickets, please contact Membership Council Co-Chair Meighan Pendergrass at yelfortsmith@gmail.com.
For more information about this event or YEL, please visit www.yelfortsmith.org.
The Bowl
1/31/11
Want to give a shout out to our buddy, Brett Goode, who will be playing in the Super Bowl this weekend. Thank you for allowing Wingnut to twist the mere fact that we know you, into a convoluted validation that we are now "The Offical Band of the Super Bowl". Go Pack!
